How to stay safe meeting other pet parents, and good habits for adoptions, playdates and your information.
1 min read
Furrcircle is about real connections between pet parents - which means a little common-sense safety goes a long way. Here are habits worth keeping.
Meeting people
- Arrange first meetings in public, neutral places (a park is ideal).
- Tell a friend where you're going and when.
- Trust your instincts - if something feels off, you don't have to proceed.
Playdates
- Keep the first meeting short and watch how the pets interact.
- Choose a safe, enclosed or quiet space.
- Don't force interactions - let the pets set the pace.
Adoptions
- Ask plenty of questions about the pet's health, history and temperament.
- Plan a responsible handover and a settling-in period.
- Be honest about your own home and lifestyle so it's the right fit both ways.
Your information
- Share contact details only when you're comfortable.
- Keep early conversations inside the app until you trust the other person.
- Report anything that seems unsafe or inappropriate.
In an emergency
For a sick or injured pet, contact a vet immediately - see Discover to find one near you. Furrcircle helps you organise and connect, but it isn't a substitute for professional or emergency care.
